Advanced Practice (AP) Psychiatric–Mental Health Nursing

Overview

Blend the traditional role of the clinical nurse specialist in psychiatric–mental health nursing with the role of the nurse practitioner to practice advanced psychiatric–mental health nursing. Students will learn from experienced faculty with prescriptive authority in a variety of community settings and use the most recent technology to support practice. Graduates will be eligible for American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) certification, based on coursework and clinical experience, as either Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Family Psychiatric and Mental Health Nurse Practitioner, Clinical Specialist, Adult Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse, or Clinical Specialist, Child and Adolescent Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse.
